Dear P.S. 971 Community,
I am excited to introduce myself as the Interim Acting Principal of P.S. 971. It is an honor to join this amazing community, and I look forward to building relationships with the staff, families, and students who make P.S. 971 so special.

Welcome Letter

I began my journey in education as a special education teacher, and those experiences continue to shape the school
leader I am today. Throughout my years as a teacher, mentor, and assistant principal, I have always believed that a
strong, successful school is built on relationships, trust, collaboration, and a shared commitment to students.
I view school leadership as an act of community service. I believe a great school leader is present, approachable, and
connected to the school community. I also believe in empowering educators, partnering with families, celebrating
students, and creating an environment where everyone feels valued and has a voice.
As I start this next chapter as your principal, I come in as a partner and as a learner. I have heard so many wonderful
things about the P.S. 971 community and its rich culture and traditions. I’d love to hear about your experiences and ideas
and to discuss how we can continue working together to create more meaningful opportunities for our students.
Outside of school, I am a proud mom of two sons. I love traveling, reading, bike riding, exploring new places, and, of
course, a good cup of coffee. I enjoy getting to know people, so please don’t hesitate to stop me in the hallway or say
hello when you see me!

As the Assistant principal of PS 971, I work with Principal Butsikares and your children’s teachers to develop leadership skills, social and emotional skills, and academic skills to prepare students for success as life-long learners and productive citizens. We provide our students with a secure and positive atmosphere where they can foster and learn in an inclusive school environment. As our partner in your child’s education, please feel free to let me know how I can help. I look forward to working with our school families to accomplish great things for our students.
