Our Vision
PS 971 School for Math, Science and Healthy Living is a ‘Champion’s Partner’ for children, parents and community. All students are empowered with opportunities and access for all through rigorous academic instruction, critical thinking environments and a healthy centered life.
In addition students in grades 3-5 will also engage in hands-on investigations to become active scientists. These investigation tasks foster classroom discussions, literacy integration, Simulations and modeling tools. These hands-on experiences follow the engineering design process. Students discover and learn the wonders of science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) which promotes inquiry and excitement as students engage in real-world scientific connections.
Our Mission
At PS 971, we celebrate the diversity of all learners and languages that fosters a school culture valuing diversity inclusive of all stakeholders. As a school, we are committed and determined to sustain the progression of goals that will improve the legacy of our future. We provide an instructional program that requires research-based strategies, effective feedback and informed differentiation. It is through this strategic planning that data is consistently gathered and analyzed to set goals and provide effective feedback for all.
