Our Principal & Staff

As the Principal of PS 971, I come to you with over 18 years of experience as a classroom teacher, Instructional Coach, and an Assistant Principal.   We continuously align our goals with the District and the Chancellor’s priorities to ensure the success of each child. All curriculum is aligned with the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards (NGLS), and we meet students where they are, to support them and guide them to excellence.   Your child’s education is our top priority! 

As a NYCDOE leader, I believe that all of us, the school and the community, must work together to ensure success for all students.  As parents, you play an integral role in the education of your child. With this in mind, you are always invited to be an active participant at your child’s school. Whether you are a member of the PTA, SLT, or a member of one of our school communities, we encourage you to be involved! I look forward to working together with you to create a positive and rigorous educational experience for your child.

As the Assistant principal of PS 971, I work with Principal Butsikares and your children’s teachers to develop leadership skills, social and emotional skills, and academic skills to prepare students for success as life-long learners and productive citizens. We provide our students with a secure and positive atmosphere where they can foster and learn in an inclusive school environment.
